Lacking anything that needed computer control, they also lacked any computer diagnostic link. I think that at least some of the 89's came with what was essentially a version of the carburetor and vacuum advance distributor that was on the Sprint models. Some of what I've said here is hearsay, so it could be wrong.

It may be possible as sometimes old stock needs to be used up or a line reworked car comes off the line as a new model year. However, in the model year change over I've read (unsubstantiated) reports that some late 95 cars came with OBD2 and some early 96 cars came with OBD1 (ALDL). In 96 The OBD2 interface became standard (as mandated by Uncle). The Suzuki interface is very, very different with different timing (baud rate), different command structure, different signal voltages, etc. Please note that this is not a early 90's standard GM ALDL OBD1 interface. Only when the cars came with both throttle body injection and electronic ignition did a functioning ALDL OBD1 link, like the one you showed, appear (some 90s?, some 91's?, but certainly 92 through 95). I seem to remember reading that as fuel injection was added, while still retaining a vacuum advance distributor, some cars came with only the white six pin engine compartment plug (some 89, 90, and 91s ?). I'm pretty sure that the 92 through 95 all have them.
